The Power of an Assistant Event Manager
The Power of an Assistant Event Manager
I hold a Bachelor of Music with Honours (BMus Hons) from the Royal Northern College of Music. That training honed my organisation, attention to detail, and creative problem‑solving—skills I bring to every event.
Behind each successful event—from charity awards to corporate launches—stands an Assistant Event Manager (AEM). An AEM combines organisation, technical know‑how, and quick thinking to support lead event managers and ensure memorable experiences.
Elevating Charity Award Nights with an AEM
I am currently supporting the Beating Breast Cancer Success Awards on September 13th. As an AEM, my tasks include:
- Sponsor & Partner Liaison: I craft bespoke profiles so sponsors gain the visibility they deserve, therefore strengthening future relationships.
- Email Campaigns: I design and schedule targeted Mailchimp and MailerLite campaigns. Then, I build reusable templates to future‑proof communications.
- Task Organisation: Next, I set up Trello boards tailored to each stakeholder’s preference. This step ensures no task slips through the cracks.
Key Tools an AEM Uses
An AEM relies on efficient systems to keep things running smoothly:
- Eisenhower Matrix: I provide a template and coaching on urgent vs. important tasks. Consequently, teams stay focused under pressure.
- Time Management Tips: Additionally, I share strategies for batching similar tasks, setting time blocks, and adding contingency buffers.
- Technical Support: Furthermore, I troubleshoot Zoom settings for hybrid guests and test AV equipment to keep the tech running.
- Microsoft Teams Coordination: Lastly, I use Teams to organise virtual meetings, share resources, and enable smooth collaboration across locations.
On‑the‑Day Excellence by an AEM
Moreover, on event day, I remain hands‑on:
- Supplier Coordination: I liaise with caterers, florists, and AV teams to confirm schedules and resolve hiccups.
- Guest Management: I oversee registration, guide VIPs, and ensure accessibility needs are met.
- Real‑Time Solutions: Whether swapping music tracks or adjusting seating plans, I stay calm and solution‑focused.
Future‑Proofing and Continuous Improvement
After each event, I compile:
- Feedback Reports: I gather insights and analytics to refine future processes.
- Reusable Assets: Then, I deliver templates, checklists, and board structures so upcoming events benefit from past learnings.

Ultimately, an AEM turns complex logistics into seamless moments. Whether for charity nights or corporate galas, I help every event shine.
