Executive Assistant Course Insights
Executive Assistant Course Insights
My completion of the Executive Assistant course consolidated my prior training in Time Management and Effective Business Communication, while introducing fresh techniques specifically tailored for high-level support roles. Right from the start, the Executive Assistant course made clear why precise planning and polished writing are essential when managing C-Suite executives’ daily workflows.
Module 1 – Introduction to the Role
In this module, I explored EA responsibilities and mapped a typical C-Suite day. Heather Baker of Baker Thompson Associates (https://www.bakerthompsonassoc.co.uk/) explained key executive terminology, then demonstrated how social media channels can reinforce leadership messaging. I’ve already applied these insights by drafting concise LinkedIn updates for our leadership team.
Modules 2 & 3 – Communication and Meetings
Combining lessons from my Pitman Effective Business Communication course, I practised structuring clear emails, memos, and briefing documents. Adapting tone for each stakeholder group—whether a board member or external partner—became second nature. Simultaneously, Module 3 deepened my travel-planning skills. I learned advanced itinerary workflows and new travel-app features that save up to 30 minutes per booking. Additionally, I now set up virtual meetings with detailed agendas and follow-up summaries, which improved participant engagement on last week’s cross-functional call.
Module 4 – Time & Resource Management
Because I’d already explored Eisenhower Matrices in my Time Management Essentials course, this module felt like the perfect opportunity to refine my approach. Now I categorise tasks daily to minimise procrastination. Furthermore, I’ve streamlined diary management—blocking strategic sessions and automating reminders—to free up two hours each week for proactive planning.
Practical Tips & Takeaways
-
Blend training: Link time-management frameworks with travel planning so that deadlines and itineraries align seamlessly.
-
Write with intent: Use clear headings and bullet points in documents to reduce misinterpretation—especially important since only 7% of communication relies on words alone.
-
Leverage technology: Integrate travel-apps and calendar automations, as recommended in the Business Travel module, to cut manual scheduling tasks.
